Saturday, May 1 from 2-3:30pm: “Spring Wildflower Walk” with Lenna Lockhart and Debby Ludwig. Please wear appropriate footwear and attire for this easy jaunt along the Horseman’s Trail in search of the beautiful wildflowers of spring. Location: Parking loop beyond the basketball court
Saturday, May 22 from 8-9:30am: “Basic Birding” with Jim Kerr. This program is designed for beginning birders and will cover bird books, binoculars and other aspects of basic birding. There will also be an easy to moderate bird walk that will include the basics of identifying birds in the field. Please bring a pair of binoculars and a bird book if possible. Location: Beaver Creek Wildlife Education Center
Saturday, June 5 from 3-5pm: Salt Springs Sierra Club Meeting. In addition to a regular Sierra Club business meeting there will be a presentation by the Little Beaver Creek Land Foundation about their work on watershed conservation and preservation issues in the Little Beaver Creek Watershed, as well as a tour of the Wildlife Education Center (WEC) conducted by WEC volunteers. Saturday, June 12 from 2-3:30pm: “Ohio Reptiles” with Kathy Cattrell. Which common snakes and turtles live in Beaver Creek State Park? This workshop will give you hands-on experience with some live specimens as you learn how to identify and appreciate these wonderful creatures. Location: Beaver Creek Wildlife Education Center
Sunday, June 13 from 2-3:30pm: “Ohio Wildlife” with Karen Henry. This program will describe some native Ohio animals, and will include a discussion of habitat needs, predator/prey roles, adaptations and migration habits. Animal mounts and pelts will be displayed. Depending on time and space available, a fun, age-appropriate activity will help illustrate one of these topics. Location: Beaver Creek Wildlife Education Center
Saturday, June 19: “River Sweep” clean-up on Little Beaver Creek – place, time and other details to be announced.
Saturday, June 26 from 2-3:30pm: “Backyard Wildlife Habitat Gardening” with Darlene Naukam, Lenna Lockhart and Debby Ludwig. Meet at the Beaver Creek Wildlife Education Center for this presentation on the basics of establishing a home garden that will use native plants to attract birds, butterflies, and other wildlife. Location: Beaver Creek Wildlife Education Center
Saturday, July 3 from 2-3:30pm: “Summer Wildflower Walk” with Lenna Lockhart and Debby Ludwig. This easy to moderate walk will take us along the beautiful trails of Beaver Creek State Park in search of summer wildflowers. Location: Beaver Creek Wildlife Education Center
Sunday, July 11 from 2-3:30pm: “Tree ID Walk” with Bill Merdich. This program will teach the basics of tree identification. Weather permitting we will spend some time outside identifying trees, and talking about some of their lore. Location: Beaver Creek Wildlife Education Center
Saturday, July 17 from 2-3:30pm: “Get to Know Your Watershed” with the Little Beaver Creek Land Foundation (Greg Aaron, Debby Ludwig, and Lisa Butch). Join the Land Foundation crew for a discussion of watershed issues, and some time exploring Little Beaver Creek. Location: Beaver Creek Wildlife Education Center
Saturday, July 24 from 2:30-3pm: “Insects” with Gary Meiter. Participants will learn basic insect identification along with insect ecology. Weather permitting, participants will collect insects in the field and woods near the Wildlife Education Center which will be identified with the help of the instructor. Location: Beaver Creek Wildlife Education Center

Saturday, August 14 from 10am-4pm: Explore the Outdoors. Come to Beaver Creek State Park for this fun family day which will include crafts, games, face painting, wildlife demonstrations and food! CANCELLED!! Sunday, August 29 from 2-3:30pm:” Late Summer/Fall Wildflower Walk” with Lenna Lockhart and Debby Ludwig. Join us for this jaunt along the beautiful trails of Beaver Creek State Park as we search for the last flowers of the season. Location: Beaver Creek Wildlife Education Center

o Please dress appropriately; do not wear sandals or flip-flops
